You might like to refer to the gimp-gap package page, to the Package Tracking System, or to the source package src:gimp-gap's bug page. So when I installed Gap I looked at the tutorials. I got the right download and when I did what the tutorial told me to do, the files where different since it was a old tutorial (I think) I have yet to find out a way to install Gap 2.6 on Gimp 2.8. Download GIMP Animation Package - Edit and create animations as sequences of single frames thanks to this collection of graphic plugins that integrate into GIMP to help you out.

OH HEY GUYS
So. Today I’ll be posting a tutorial on how to install GAP (GIMP Animation Package). It’s required for making GIFS (which I will be doing a tutorial on SOON) and the installation is a *bit* complicated, I had to click around before I could actually get it to work.
Step 1: Go to this site. It’ll either start download automatically or you will be linked to a Deviant Art page. If you happen to be sent to the Deviant Art page, simply click on “download file” near the top right corner.
Gimp-gap-2.6.0.tar.bz2
Step 2: Open the file. It’ll probably be in your downloads folder. Look for a folder titled “GAP_2_6_for_Gimp_2_6_Windows_by_photocomix_resources” and open it and the folder within it. There should be several folders, here are the ones that should be in it: EXTRA_ANIMATION_SCRIPTS, EXTRA-AUDIO-support, EXTRA-plugin-Animated_Cursor, GAP-installer, TUTORIAL_Doc, and a text document called HOW TO INSTALL. Open the GAP-Installer folder and open the installer. Complete the installation which is pretty straightforward.
Step 3 (yep you’re not done): Go back to your Downloads folder. There should be a folder called “lib”. Open it and open the folder named Gimp > 2.0 > plug-ins > Select all of the items in the folder (ctrl+a). Copy.
Step 4: Go to your local disk (probably your C: Drive) and click on the folder that’s called “Users”. Find the folder that has your account name on it. Open it and there will be a folder titled “.gimp-2.8”, and it will most likely be at the top of the folder. Open the folder and look for another folder called “plug-ins”. Open it and paste. All the plug-ins should be in that folder.

Step 5: Now open GIMP. There should be a new “Video” option on the options bar between “Filters” and “Windows”. If there is, then YAY you successfully installed GAP 😀 If not, then I don’t even know what to do lol, uninstall GAP and the plug-ins and do it over again.
